WINNER OF OUR JUNE CRAFTING COMPETITION
Branwyn Collins entered our 'Creations in Clay' competition enthusiastically, demonstrating her great talent in producing intricate work in air drying clay.
We found it tough to pick our favourite piece from her collection, but loved the 100 hearts framed piece. Here is what Branwyn has to tell us about her inspiring work :-
"Hi I’m Wallace. I always loved to paint & draw until I lost my sight through head injuries a couple of years ago. Not wanting to give up art I now use air drying clay from Craftmill which I find the best to feel the detail of my work as I sculpt through touch. So combining the polystyrene hearts, square shadow box and clay – all from Craftmill, I came up with my 100 Hearts design. all my work is cream as i like to let the clay do the talking but i also incorporate braille into my work. here I have used ivory beads to write “100 hearts” in braille and a mirror tile for background. being blind I dont use much colour as you can see from my other pieces in my website welshwallaceart.co.uk I now do trinket boxes, pictures and accessories to go around the house. I try to come up with designs that are timeless and classic. I am also on twitter @welshwallaceart where i post progress pictures of my latest work. as i say on my website, I may be blind but I have 20/20 vision in my fingertips."
